Spring sports are fast approaching, and Prince George County Public Schools Athletics has compiled this guide to help you prepare for the upcoming sports season!
Eligibility Requirements for All Student-Athletes
To be eligible to participate in spring sports, all student-athletes must have a physical on a VHSL form dated by physician after May 1, 2023, and uploaded to the athletic portal on the athletic website. Student-athletes must have passed the equivalent of five courses from the first semester and be enrolled in the equivalent of five courses for the second semester.

Tryout Dates, Times, and Locations
Mark your calendars with the following dates and times for spring sports tryouts!
- Boys Soccer: JV and Varsity will begin tryouts Monday, February 19th and should be completed by Thursday, February 22nd. Tryout times will be from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the PGHS Stadium.
- Girls Soccer: JV and Varsity will begin tryouts Monday, February 19th through Thursday, February 22nd. Tryout times will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the PGHS Stadium.
- Boys and Girls Tennis: Both teams will begin tryouts Monday, February 19th through Thursday, February 22nd. Students must provide their own racquet and are to report to the tennis courts at PGHS immediately following dismissal. Tryouts will end at 5:00 pm each day.
- Boys and Girls Outdoor Track: Both teams will begin tryouts Monday, March 4th through Wednesday, March 6th. Tryout times will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the PGHS Stadium Track. (Note: This is a change.)
- Baseball: JV and Varsity will begin tryouts Monday, February 19th through Thursday, February 22nd. Tryout times will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the PGHS Baseball Field.
- Middle School Baseball: Tryouts will begin Wednesday, February 21st through Friday, February 23rd. Tryout times will be from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at JEJ Moore Baseball Field.
- Softball: JV and Varsity will begin tryouts Monday, February 19th through Friday, February 23rd. Tryout times will be from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at the PGHS Softball Field.
- Middle School Softball: Tryouts will begin Monday, February 26th through Wednesday, February 28th from 3:00-5:15 pm at JEJ Moore Softball Field. Athletes will need to meet Coach Bennett in the locker room right after school.
