Prince George Community Invited to Participate in Survey as School Board Begins Search for PGCPS' Next Superintendent

May 14, 2024

On Monday, May 13, 2024, the Prince George School Board announced that it will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent by seeking public input on qualifications.

The school board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PrinceGeorgeSearch. This survey can be viewed both on desktop computers, tablets, and its mobile-friendly for smartphone users. The link to this survey can also be found on the district’s main website, http://www.pgs.k12.va.us, and on the homepage of each school’s website in their individual news feeds.

Hard copies of this survey will also be available at the Prince George County School Board Office, located at 6410 Courts Drive, and at each school beginning Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The survey will be open from May 15, 2024 through May 30, 2024. Those completing hard copies are strongly encouraged to return their finished surveys to a PGCPS campus during regular business hours before the May 30 survey deadline.

In addition to the survey, the Prince George County School Board will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 3, 2024, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Prince George County Administration Building, 6602 Courts Drive, in the third-floor boardroom.

"The appointment of a new superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities entrusted to a school board, and it is our priority to ensure that the public has an active role in this selection process," Prince George County School Board Chair Jill A. Andrews said. "We encourage parents, staff, and our community to participate in this important process by completing the survey or attending the upcoming public hearing."

The board will partner with the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) for the process, with the organization providing resources and support to the Prince George County School Board throughout the process.
