As the countdown to graduation continues to tick closer to May 30 for hundreds of Prince George High School seniors and their families, several soon-to-be-graduates and Royals student-athletes celebrated alongside family, friends, and teammates as they made their college intentions official during a special commitment ceremony on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Set up in the commons, dozens of students took seats with the families, friends, and coaches of seven student-athletes who signed on the line for their respective colleges and universities for the upcoming academic year. Those students were:
- Jaden Kopalchick (Wrestling) - Attending Randolph College
- Kacie Katlett (Softball) - Attending Richard Bland College
- Abbie Sars (Softball) - Attending Virginia Tech
- Addison Brynn Gill (Field Hockey) - Attending Barton College
- Maryam Huggi (Soccer) - Attending Earlham College
- Riley Humphries (Track) - Attending Longwood University
While there were plenty of people in attendance, offering warm smiles, congratulations, and hugs to the athletes as they made their commitments official, it was the special virtual appearance of former Prince George High School track coach Will Stevens that saw few dry eyes in the audience and among the athletes.
Coach Stevens was a fixture of Royals athletics during his time in Prince George, dating back to 2012 and his eventual transition into leading the division's track program. Over the years, Coach Stevens helped students excel on the track and in the classroom, resulting in many championships and new records, with Riley Humphries among those earning accolades during his time in Prince George.

In 2024, Coach Stevens announced he would be departing the Royals as part of a move to Washington State, but he assured his former players are always on his mind and he will always be ready to offer support and encouragement as they embark on the next step in their lives, a commitment he reaffirmed in his commitment day remarks Wednesday afternoon.
Congratulations to these student-athletes and all of our soon-to-be-grads as they prepare to step out and make an impact on our world. We are all so proud of you, and you will always be Royals!
