As the sun sets on the 2025-26 School Year, the opportunity to celebrate our soon-to-be retirees as they prepare to embark on the next journey in their lives returned once again during the district's fifth annual Royal Recognitions Reception, held at Prince George High School on May 7, 2026.

During the hour-long event, the event, emceed by Division Superintendent Dr. Wayne Lyle, featured recognitions of the district's teachers and support employees of the year, Compass Award winners, the awarding of PGCPS' two year-end awards, the Pathfinder Award and the Spirit of Prince George Award, along with thoughtful celebrations of the division's retiring faculty and staff for their countless years of service.
This year's nearly two dozen retirees combine for over 500 years of service to our division, supporting our students and district operations. The remarks delivered by administrators and building leaders drew laughs, hugs, and a few tears of happiness as they recounted each retiree's impact on them and their campuses.
Members of the Prince George County School Board greeted each retiree as they received gift bags including a variety of PGCPS presents.
