Please see the following message from PGCPS District Superintendent Dr. Wayne Lyle regarding our division's commitment to supporting consistent school attendance by students and providing supports to families of students facing attendance challenges.

Random truancy sweeps during the 2024-25 School Year will allow school staff to reestablish connections with students and families facing attendance challenges to sure they receive support that allows their child to return to school regularly.

Dr. Lyle will begin serving as PGCPS’ district superintendent on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, bringing nearly 30 years of experience to the Prince George County Public Schools community.

J.E.J. Moore Middle School welcomed over 1,000 district employees to IgnitePG, the second-annual homegrown professional development event aimed at preparing staff for the upcoming year through exciting sessions and experiences.

Donations of school supplies are being accepted through Tuesday, August 6, 2024. These school supplies will be organized by volunteers and used to fill backpacks that will be available for children and families during each school’s pre-opening orientation session later this summer!

Regular and consistent school attendance ensures that students do not miss out on important lessons and discussions, which impacts their overall academic success. Additionally, being present in the classroom allows students to interact with their peers and build important social skills.

This initiative will help PGCPS families learn more about the important role good attendance habits have in the educational future and success of the children of Prince George County succeed.
