Recent Prince George High School Graduate Allison Ryan Earns Girl Scout Gold Award

Prince George High School Class of 2026 graduate Allison Ryan was recently recognized by the Prince George County School Board for earning the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement available to members of Girl Scouts of the USA.
Ryan officially completed the requirements for the award on April 15, 2026, through the Gold Award Review Board of the Commonwealth Council of Virginia Girl Scouts. She was formally recognized during a pinning ceremony held in May.
A member of Girl Scout Troop 5017, Ryan served as both an Ambassador and a Counselor-in-Training for the Prince George/Fort Lee/Sussex service area. Through a 40-hour leadership training program, she worked alongside younger Girl Scouts, helping them advance through Girl Scout journeys and programming while developing her own leadership skills.
For her Gold Award project, Ryan partnered with Chippokes State Park to create a lasting outdoor educational experience for children and families. Over the course of approximately 96 hours, she helped establish a new trail, constructed three benches, installed a kiosk, and developed an educational poster for the park's Nature Program. The project was designed to teach elementary-aged children how to safely engage with nature while encouraging families to spend time outdoors together.
Ryan's commitment to service extends well beyond her Girl Scout involvement. During her time at Prince George High School, she participated in Beta Club, Student Government Association, Youth Community Club, 4-H, Champions of Friends, Jilts Sorority, and Girl Scouts. She also volunteered with numerous organizations and events, including the American Red Cross, Run for the Fallen, Fisher House, Ronald McDonald House, James House, the First Thanksgiving Festival of Virginia Youth Committee, and the Prince George Girl Scout Honor Color Guard.
This fall, Ryan will continue her educational journey at Bridgewater College, where she plans to attend as a member of the incoming Class of 2030.
Prince George County Public Schools congratulates Allison Ryan on earning the Girl Scout Gold Award and thanks her for the positive impact she has made in our community through her leadership, service, and dedication.
